That’s the number of types of bread you’ll run into (careful, careful) at your average supermarket.

Some varieties, like whole wheat, are better for you than others, say, overly processed, white starchy breads.

But one type of bread seems to fly under the radar when it comes to popularity, despite the fact that it’s been around for over 60 years.

We’re talking about sprouted bread!

Say what?!? So they’re amongst the 100+ types in the bread isle?!?

Well, no. You won’t find this down your normal bread aisle. Rather, they’re kept in the freezer section and, yes, they’re available at most grocery stores.

You may be scratching your head at this point wondering what the hell sprouted bread is and why you should care. Good question, and keep scratchin’.

In short, sprouted bread uses no flour whatsoever and is created by using only freshly sprouted organic live grains or wheat kernels. The sprouting process actually releases the vital nutrients in the bread instead of destroying the nutrients through over processing (like in white bread) and makes sprouted bread so damn healthy for you.

According to one of the popular brands, Food For Life, sprouted bread is, easier to digest, contains more antioxidants than regular bread, contains increased levels of Vitamin C and B and allows you to absorb the minerals much more effectively than other bread.

The best part is, sprouted bread contains more protein AND less fat which is perfect if you’re trying to watch your weight or drop some pounds.

I’ll def. check that out because I noticed a “sprouted” bread in the bread aisle (made by Arnold?) but it was not healthy! Another one of those things you just think are healthy. I’ll try yours!
