And you want to keep it off.
Well, the first thing you’ve got to do, is, make it permanent.
What that means is that you’ve got to adopt a lifestyle around food and exercise that is sustainable for you...
This involves some honest self-reflection to get started.
If you lost weight by eating only grapefruit and kale and spending 2 hours in the gym every night, take a good hard look at whether or not that’s something you can see yourself doing for the rest of your life.
Chances are, that’s not sustainable because you probably like to do other things some evenings or eat in restaurants occasionally. Maybe even socialize with other humans once in a while.
A strict, inflexible regimen, is going to break down pretty quickly and when it does, you may find that the only other patterns you have for eating and exercising are the ones from before you lost the weight.
You know – the ones that got you to where you needed to lose weight!
So take a look at how you live and craft an eating program that allows you to do the things humans normally do – eating out, going to social gatherings, working at a desk all day – whatever it is.
Is a strict food program going to withstand it? Or do you need a more forgiving program that has the flexibility to allow to occasionally indulge as long as the majority of the time you’re sticking to healthy options?
And when you look at regular exercise, plan a program for yourself that works with your habits.
If you don’t see yourself getting up at 4:30am in the morning to hit the gym, then maybe after work is a better time, or maybe you can go for a long walk or hit a Zumba class at lunch time.
A combination of several different options depending on how your day runs might be your best bet.
