I can’t even begin to convey how bored I am with this whole process.
Sometimes I feel like a total failure, because I have to keep doing this “lose/gain/lose” process...
One of my friends on Facebook shared this quote, which I’m totally feeling after over 10 years of managing my weight:
• It’s a long slog.
• I’m going to be doing this the rest of my life.
• I’m going to be up some weeks and down some weeks.
• I’m going to feel like a failure on the bad weeks and shining beacon of success on the good weeks.
And my weight is never going to just be stable.
I’m always going to have to fight this fight.
I took my foot off the gas once for about a year as I worked through a deep depression, and when I came out of it I had gained back 50 pounds.
I bet it does to you, but to me, when I look at where I came from, that’s only a quarter of what I had lost!
Yeah, I gained some back but it was only a quarter of what I’d lost which, frankly, isn’t all that bad!
For some perspective: if I’d lost 40 pounds and gained back 10 I wouldn’t have felt like a failure, I’d have felt like I needed to get back to work.
So then I got back to work and lost those 50 pounds.

Some people might find it depressing, that the prize for losing a bunch of weight is to be ever-vigilant, but consider the alternative.
Sometimes I slip up and fall down.
And then I get back up, dust myself off, and succeed again.
