Move an inch. Sounds easy, right?
I thought so too.
I quickly learned exactly how hard it is to move as little as possible and I will never underestimate the power of an inch again!
Pure Barre is obviously aware of what every woman desires in a body shape and has devised a workout around that goal. They focus on areas that I’m sure even Beyoncé struggles with – inner thighs, triceps, and lower-abs. There has literally never been a time in my life where I thought – hmm, I wish my inner thighs weren’t so toned and sculpted. And if you have had that thought – go eat some cake – everyone else, try Pure Barre!
Likely because most “popular” workouts don’t focus on those areas – they aren’t major muscles like your quads – and they get overlooked.
Each movement in my hour long class was designed to blast my muscles into fatigue and then stretch them out to become the long lean muscles of my Ballerina dreams.
Melissa, the owner of the studio I visited, told me:
A tiny bend of my knee followed by a press of my heel, a controlled tap of my foot to the floor and a tiny raise up, holding my arms straight out in front of me and moving them up an inch, and down an inch –
all of these tiny motions had a HUGE impact!
I was thrilled!
I love it when a workout surprises me by being super hard, because then I am able to surprise myself by working through the movements even though it is a challenge!
The following days were full of “oh, that muscle I never knew I had is actually back there!” My ever-impossible-to-sculpt triceps were so blissfully sore the days following my class. It was a great feeling of accomplishment that you don’t always get, and I can only imagine the wonderful things Pure Barre could do for my body!
