If you have a dog, here’s a quick reminder of 9 ways they make you a happier person, if you don’t have a dog, maybe it’s time to get one.

If you’re not ready to handle these 9 things and some extra, don’t get a dog, just appreciate other people’s dogs.

1: The Great Outdoors

• Peace,
• the beauty of nature,
• fresh air & extra oxygen,
• a boost to your physical and mental health (vitamin D, exercise etc.).

How much less would you go outside if your little dog buddy didn’t demand it every day?

I know I would have missed out on A LOT of valuable time outside if I didn’t have Buckley watching my back.

2: A Sense of Purpose and Responsibility

They’ll help you live a better routine, and they’ll gives you a sense of purpose as you provide and care for them while they pays it back 10x with all their love and appreciation.

3: Get Outside Yourself

I know you’re stressed, you got problems, people problems.

Just get out of your head and focus on ME (the dog). Just BE.

4: Enjoy the Present Moment

We all spend too much time in the past or the future, which doesn’t even exist, the only time we have is NOW.

A dog helps you remember that - soak it up, be here now.

5: Seeing Other People Overjoyed By Your Dog - Or Irrational Fear

If only humans reacted this way when we see each other, right?

Most everyone I walk by greets my dog first, and me last, if at all.

Some people go all dog-obsessed-weird, which is funny, and some people are terrified of him, which, yeah, is also funny.

The dog loves and needs to exercise... they freak out without it.

They will help you participate and hopefully find your passion for health and fitness (key to fitness success = find some form of fitness you love as much as my dog loves to chase the ball).

• You know they know your thoughts,
• heck you often talk to them,
• and somehow they hold you accountable to being a better person.

8: Rest - But Not Too Much

There’s nothing better than working really hard, then taking a big nap.

Just watch a dog go nuts at the beach for 2 hours, then sleep for 2 hours in the afternoon.

Your soul burns to do the same thing.

Getting too worked up?

You’ll know it when you’re mean to your dog for no reason, and then you’ll feel bad and do something about your stress.
