Health experts used to hate coffee and tabloid newspapers still jump on the “9 million ways your morning coffee is killing you” bandwagon from time to time. Nothing sells newspapers more than telling someone their favorite part of the day is killing them. The worst part is it’s usually based off one study, from the middle of nowhere, where a guy was hit by a bus drinking his coffee.
Anyway, I’m fairly committed to the Coffee is Healthy campaign. Mostly because I need to justify the $3 I spend every other morning, but also because coffee is actually really healthy for you. In fact, it’s one of the healthiest drinks on the market.
In this article, I’ll tell you why. But first a quick note. Your morning "Joe" is brilliant for your health, but, remember to drink it black and preferably not full of artificial sweeteners, creamers and anything else that’s not real food.
Those are the real dampeners on your health. Not your sweet, sweet cup of coffee.
The contest wasn’t even close.
A Japanese Study found that drinking 2 or more cups of Coffee day can decrease your risk of Cardiovascular Diseases by up to 38%. That means any disease to do with the heart, veins or arteries. Which means you’re less susceptible to dying from any one of those diseases. Good to know you could stop yourself from dying just by sipping a coffee.
Drinking Coffee has been shown to boost your metabolic rate from anywhere between 3% and 11%. That means if you can nail your diet, your coffee is going to add an impeccable "afterburn" effect throughout the day. It’s the original thermogenic!
At the end of the day, it does seem quite clear that coffee is NOT the villain it was made out to be. If anything, coffee may literally be the healthiest beverage on the planet.
