8 Activewear Brands You Can't Live Without

Growing up, I always watched the models on TV and thought how amazing their bodies looked.  Sure, some of them are just genetically predisposed to having that amazing body, but others had to work at it.  Most of us know, like most things in life, we have to work at it.  It takes hard work and dedication to look and feel fit,  but it's so worth it in the end.

The truth is, exercise, nutrition and always being health conscience is the only way to having a "model" type body. Hitting the gym, the studio or box has become a way of life for the majority of the 20 - 40 year olds we know and health and fitness are two of the biggest markets trending today.  Women in general want to look as good at the gym as they do going to a nice dinner, shopping or a night out. Retailers are well aware of this growing need for trendy activewear and they certainly deliver.

If you’re like me and shop online, in store, by catalog and off Instagram, then you're probably just as inundated with a plethora of fashionable activewear as I am.  There are so many fun, trendy leggings these days with matching sports bras and kicks that you can literally take your workout wear to the next level in no time. For many of us, this not only makes us feel good but also helps us look pretty good while working out too. Hey….confidence is key!

With that being said, here are some of my favorite brands:

1.  Onzie

Onzie yoga wear is not only the perfect hot yoga, or bikram, clothing line, but it can also be used for Pilates, spinning, swimming, surfing, running or hooping according to its creators. These leggings are very stretchy with lots of fun prints.  They also offer capris and leggings and the price point is fairly eye pleasing.

2.  Zella

Zella is Nordstrom's activewear brand. It’s everything. It’s flirty, girly, cool, & workout-y...is that even a word? I love the feel of the material and the price point is very well suited.  The leggings can be worn out at night which makes for alot of versatility with this brand.

3. Nike

Nike’s mission statement says it all, “Bring Inspiration to Every Athlete in the World”...  "If you have a body, you’re an athlete.” Nike has always been a go-to for most Americans and it's no wonder since they never seem to disappoint.  They are a name that has been around for years and with that being said, prices can go up well over $100 for some pieces.  I wash and air dry most of my dri-fit and sports bras and suggest you do as well to preserve the longevity of your gear.

4. Lululemon Athletica

"Lululemon makes technical athletic clothes for yoga, running, working out, and most other sweaty pursuits.”  They offer a wide range of products with everything from shorts and leggings to jackets and dresses.  You can’t argue the fit and for that , you WILL pay for it.  A must have in my activewear collection.

5.  Prana

"Prana is a premium clothing company offering sustainable apparel for yoga, climbing and outdoor lifestyle enthusiasts.” A fun brand with lots of color options and basic pieces that will remain stylish for years to come. Prana is perfect for those who want a great fit and look but don't want to stand out with crazy prints and cuts.

6.  Beyond Yoga

"Beyond Yoga with yoga clothes, workout apparel, and activewear designed for every woman's body.” Again another sustainable product that offers variations of classic pieces to add to that active lifestyle of yours.

7.  Puma

For over 65 years, PUMA has established a history of making product designs for the fastest athletes on the planet. PUMA offers performance and sport-inspired lifestyle products in categories such as football, running, training, fitness, golf, and motorsports. Although the selection at the PUMA stores are not huge,  I enjoy shopping them every time. With this brand you will be happy with whats left in your wallet once you leave.

8. Victoria’s Secret Sport

As I was shopping through the store recently, a sales associate told me that VS recently revamped their whole sports line and is now comparable to the best activewear in the retail industry.  I decided to try them out and sure enough, I was pleasantly surprised.  Great compression and some of their sports bras even offer cup sizes vs traditional small, medium and large sizes. I love the designs and comfort of their sports apparel and they are right on trend.  Also great for women with large chests.  Definitely worth the higher price point,  but check your email VS always has some sort of sale going on.

Now that you are workout ready, we have to find you that perfect pair of workout shoes to seal the deal.  I like to call it H to T, head to toe and you will too.  See you at the gym you fashionista you!
